The Brouwersgracht is an Amsterdam canal that connects the Singel with the Singelgracht. The canal marks the northwestern boundary of the ring of canals. Between Prinsengracht and Singelgracht, the Brouwersgracht forms the northern boundary of the Jordaan.
From 1612, the ring of canals was dug southward from the Brouwersgracht. Since 1894, the canal owes its name to the many breweries that could be found in this neighborhood in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. From 1782, the Brouwersgracht near Driehoekstraat housed the last Amsterdam distillery of gin and liqueurs: De Ooievaar .
